Details of Achievements

Ladakh Ecological Development Group (LEDeG) was formed in 1978 by like minded people through ‘Ladakh Project’, later it was registered under Society Registration Act VI in the Indian State of Jammu & Kashmir in 1983. Since, then LEDeG has been working as Non-Government Organization mainly in the fields appropriate technologies using renewable energies, preservation of local Ladakhi culture, agricultural, food-processing and handicrafts practices. It also supports income generations programmes in rural remote areas of the region. The organization has been actively carrying awareness programmes for issues like Environmental Conservation, Cultural Preservation and Sustainable Development of the region for the past 25 years. LEDeG main activities were 1 appropriate technology 2 Agriculture 3 Handicraft 4 Food processing 5 Renewable Energy Very recently we had finished one active space heating project using solar energy with GIZ, MNRE. The project was a technology transfer project from Altiplano Argantina and its main objective was to provide space heating solution using sun energy. we had finished a research project with BON university, Germany on urban water health issues. We also finished another passive space heating project with ICCO netherland based organisation and build 150 Passive solar house in coldest and harshest part of Leh and Kargil. Currently we are implementing a project on agriculture value addition and market linkages with RD TATA trust. Apart from these we are also focusing on organic farming practices etc
